Wildlife expert and television presenter Steve Backshall has successfully completed the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race to raise funds for World Land Trust (WLT).

Steve and his co paddler George Barnicoat left Devizes mid morning on Saturday 4 April 2015. They completed the course in 23 hours and 17 minutes despite three rudder cable breakages, arriving in Westminster at 9.52am.

On Easter Saturday afternoon, supporters and spectators watched the race along the route of the Kennet and Avon Canal and the River Thames. On Sunday morning (5 April), WLT staff and supporters cheered Steve and George over the finish line in Westminster.

The rally point was on the Thames Path, on the south bank of the Thames, in front of St Thomas’ Hospital: you might have seen the WLT banner!
